Managing Performance in the Workplace 'Inspiring Better Performance and Managing Poor Performance'

Target Audience:
Managers, Supervisors, Co-ordinators and Team Leaders with a responsibility for influencing performance outcomes from their team and who are required to manage staff performance issues.
Key Objective:
To build the competence and confidence of participants to effectively manage staff performance within the workplace. This includes inspiring good performance, management of non-performance, informal meetings, formal meeting, warning processes and practising tactics to foster a performance focused environment in the workplace.
Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of the program participants will have an understanding of:

  • What effective performance management is, and why effective performance management is imperative in the modern workplace
  • How to conduct effective performance conversations
  • Manage performance and non-performance effectively
  • The link between leadership behaviour and performance and how to create a high performance culture through role-modelling, setting expectations, effective feedback and identifying strategies to enhance individual performance
  • The importance of fairness and accuracy when managing performance and maintaining consistency between all elements of the performance management process
  • How to achieve great performance with individuals and teams by recognising triggers for motivation and providing 'personal motivators' such as career development, reward and recognition, and ongoing feedback
  • How to provide relevant processes in managing poor performance dependent on your organisational procedures, including the basic principles and processes associated with formal warnings and termination of employees.
  • The requirements related to documenting and recording performance issues

Structure: Full-day (9am - 5pm) with up to 16 participants per session
